READY for the WEEKEND!!!!

Not just Thank God It’s Friday, but also….

I am so excited for this workout to be released in July!!!!

BUT…that is not the point of this post.  More on that one next week 🙂

THIS weekend, I am heading off to see some wonderful friends in Champaign, IL for the IL Marathon Weekend!  No, I am not running this year.  I have taken almost a full year off of running due to injuries and to pursue other fitness endeavors.  But I will be walking the 5k tonight with an AMAZING group of people!  Here is our pic from last year.  Some are returning.  Some are not. 😦  BUT we also have some new people coming this year that I am excited to meet.

Have an AMAZING weekend!

5 YEARS!?!?!

WOW!  With all that has been going on this week, I almost missed my 5 Year Journey to Fitness Anniversary!

I can not believe it has been 5 years since I started my journey to get healthy.  But more than that, I can’t believe 5 years ago I weighed over 100# MORE than I do right now.  Over the past several months, I have had some trials and ERRORS, but all in all, I am STILL a success story!  I have kept off 100# for almost 4 years now.

I want to take this moment to thank EVERYONE who has supported me, believed in me, and helped me in any way to make my dream of living a healthy lifestyle my REALITY!  I may have done all the work, and put forth all the blood, sweat, and tears, but without you all, I may have given up on myself.  I never felt worthy of having wonderful things in my life.  So I would do anything I could to  make sure I didn’t!  The negativity I used to put into the world, came back on me continuously.  Sure, I had a wonderful husband and family who love me, but I had even pushed and the few friends that I did have away by choosing my negative addictive existence over them.  But along this journey, I have found my way back to enjoying company of people over a toxic lifestyle again.   I have made an effort to make friends who have the same interests as I do.  People who also want to be fit and healthy and live a FULL life.

I admit that am still a bit of homebody, which helps explain why Beachbody was such a great fit for me, but I also treasure my time with my friends and have found a true love in Group Training.  Whether it be teaching or taking Zumba and FIT classes at Legacy Martial Arts or doing the Body By Brenda Workouts in the park.  I love seeing people enjoy fitness and people believing in me enough to allow me to be able to be part of that.

Hard to believe that a person who consumed as much alcohol and Rx pain killers as I did to numb out my life would now be the one who not only celebrates each and every moment of life, but want to help others find their path and do the same.  Speaking of my old vices….it has also been almost 5 years since I had my last cigarette!   Remembering back to September thru December 2008, I was SO determined!  I had failed so many times.  Work hard for a week or so, and then BOOM!  There comes the weekend.  Or a holiday.  Or a party.  Always an excuse to eat bad foods and drink LOTS of alcohol.  Heck, back then, a Tuesday was a good enough reason for that! 😛  My how things have changed.

before during after

Illness and injury have been a big part of this year so far, but I am working to get back on MY schedule.  The one that just “works” for me.  And then I have some new goals in mind.  But first, I am aiming to get back to the girl in this 3rd pic.  I have put on about 18#, and look more like the 2nd one now, but I will NEVER sell myself short!  I know I can do it!  I HAVE DONE IT!  I REFUSE TO GIVE UP!!!

Confidence Builders Days 19-21

Another busy weekend in the books!  And Monday is going to be even busier, so here are the last 3 days’ Confidence Builders! –

DAY 19 –

30-Days To a More Confident You!

Day 19 – Call Out Your Posse!

To build your confidence, you want to surround yourself by other like-minded people who have a positive attitude and will help you build your confidence and support you in your dreams.

Build your “posse” of those people, and kick out anyone who is negative or believes you can NOT reach your goals. If it is family or someone that you can not kick out of your life totally, tell them how you feel, how important it is to you, and that if they can not help you, that you at least need them to stop trying to hold you back. If that is not something they can do, then limiting your exposure to those people will simply have to be limited.

As harsh as that sounds, seriously…who wants to spend all their time with a “Negative Nelly”? NOT ME! And I won’t!

Find your happy, or at least don’t try to diminish mine, or there is not a place for you in my “Posse”.

Let’s MAKE this a GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Head UP! Shoulders BACK! Smile ON! Now get out there and take on the world!!!

DAY 20 –

30-Days To a More Confident You!

Day 20 – Challenge Your Negative Self-Talk!

This takes us right back to having a positive attitude and surrounding yourself with positivity. That MUST start between your ears!

I have to head out for now, but will be back to revisit this later this afternoon.

Head UP! Shoulders BACK! Smile ON! Now get out there and take on the world!!!

***I never got back in to talk about this more, but The time is NOW to ditch the Negative Self-Talk!  SERIOUSLY!  It does absolutely NOTHING for you but tear you down!  You wouldn’t talk to someone you love the way you talk to yourself, right?  Well now is the time to start loving yourself enough to only lift yourself up, NOT tear yourself down.   You can either be your biggest asset, or your biggest liability.  Which will you CHOOSE to be?***

DAY 21 –

30-Days To a More Confident You!

Day 21 – Sort Out The “Shoulds”!

What does this mean to me?

Sometimes, the word “should” is a BAD word! I used to put too much pressure on myself to look a certain way because I thought I “SHOULD” look like that. And then I would beat myself up because I didn’t live up to what I “should” be. Well what I thought I should look like, was the women on the covers of fitness magazines. Then, I was told that most of them don’t even really look that perfect! Lighting, angle, the right flex at the right moment, and even airbrushing sometimes help them obtain that “perfect look”. So in that sense, I dropped the “should’s”.

On the other hand, sometimes I use the word “should” to put things in order. Because sometimes what I want to do and what I should do are two different things. I have to remember to match my “should’s” with my goal over my wants. I may WANT a big cheesy pizza in the middle of the week. But I know that it will NOT help me reach my fitness goals. It is OK to have a couple pieces for my cheat meal on Fridays, but other than that, I know that I “should” skip it.
Same with exercise. There are nights after work, that I would truly LOVE to just sit and have a little down time and brush up on my couch cushion molding skills! LOL! But would that get me closer to my goals? It is important to remember that your “should’s” are there to get you to your goals. What you SHOULD do, is the difference between what you want NOW and what you want MOST!

More than anything in the world, I want to be a healthy and fit role model and help others reach their personal health and fitness goals. So SHOULD I have couch and pizza nights? YES! But they should be the exception, NOT the rule!

Head UP! Shoulders BACK! Smile ON! Now get out there and take on the world!!!

I will work on making posting in here a SHOULD on my “To-Do” List, and get in here more often! I am even going to experiment with dong a few video blogs.  Mainly, because today I start my T25 Challenge with myself!  I am going to KILL this program!  In 10 weeks, I am aiming to get back to where I was when I felt I looked my best.  Maybe even BETTER! 🙂
